Engine Bay Detailing in Vaughan

Steam-assisted engine bay cleaning and dressing at your home in Vaughan. Clears grime and winter salt buildup. From $60.

The engine bay is the part of the car nobody cleans and everybody eventually opens. It collects road dust that gets drawn in through the front of the vehicle, oily film from normal operation, leaf litter and seed debris in the cowl, and — through a GTA winter — a steady dose of road salt thrown up from underneath and dried on by engine heat.

Cleaning it is partly about how the car presents. A tidy bay is one of the first things a buyer or a mechanic looks at, and it says something about how the vehicle has been kept. But it is also about being able to see what is going on under there: a clean bay makes a fresh leak, a perished hose or a corroding terminal visible instead of hidden under a decade of grime.

Why it is done with steam rather than a hose

An engine bay is full of things that do not want to be soaked: connectors, relays, sensors, the fuse box, the alternator. Pointing a pressure washer into it is how people end up with an electrical fault that costs far more than the clean did.

Steam is the answer to that because it cleans with heat rather than volume. It lifts oily film and bonded grime while putting a fraction of the moisture into the bay that a hose would, and it can be directed precisely into the seams and around components rather than sprayed at everything. It is the same steam-assisted approach used in the Gold package interior, applied to a place where controlling moisture matters even more.

Salt is the specific reason this is worth doing in this region. Salt that has settled in a bay and been baked on by engine heat sits directly against metal, and it does not stop being corrosive because winter ended. Clearing it before it has years to work is straightforward; dealing with what it has already done is not a detailing job at all.

What it costs

Engine Bay Detail

Priced to how much has built up rather than to engine size. A bay that has been cleaned before sits at the bottom of the range; one that has never been touched in ten years of winters sits at the top.

Booked with a detail

This is an add-on rather than a standalone service, and it is most often booked with an exterior detail — the bay, the wheels and the wheel wells all carry the same winter salt, so they are worth doing in one visit.

Pricing based on vehicle size, condition, and level of contamination. Excessive pet hair, staining, and soiling may require additional charges.

Done at your address

We arrive fully equipped with our own water and power supply, so there is nothing you need to set up. The vehicle stays where it is parked, at your home or your office, across Vaughan, Woodbridge, Kleinburg, Maple, Concord, Thornhill, King City, Nobleton and Richmond Hill. Condos and apartments are fine as long as we have reasonable access to the vehicle and a parking spot to work in.

The engine needs to be cool before the bay is worked on, so this is a service best booked when the car has been sitting rather than immediately after a drive. Mention it when you book and we will time our arrival around it.

As with everything else we do, if the weather looks like it could affect the quality of the work we watch the forecast and reach out to reschedule, at no charge.

Engine bay questions

Is it safe to clean an engine bay?

It is when moisture is controlled, which is why we use steam rather than a hose or a pressure washer. Steam cleans with heat instead of volume, so it lifts oily film and grime while putting far less water into a space full of connectors, relays and sensors.

Why does it matter in Ontario specifically?

Road salt. Through the winter it gets thrown up from underneath and baked onto metal by engine heat, and it stays corrosive long after the season ends. Clearing it before it has years to work is straightforward; what it has already done is not something detailing can undo.

Will a clean bay help me sell the car?

It is one of the first places a buyer or a mechanic looks, and it tends to be read as a signal of how the whole vehicle has been kept. It also makes the bay legible — a fresh leak or a corroding terminal is visible in a clean bay and hidden in a dirty one.

Does the engine need to be cold?

Yes, it needs to be cool before we work on the bay, so it is best booked when the car has been sitting rather than straight after a drive. Mention it when you book and we will time our arrival around it.

Can I book it on its own?

It is listed as an add-on and is usually booked alongside a package — most often an exterior detail, since the bay, the wheels and the wheel wells all carry the same winter salt and are worth doing in one visit. Packages start at $185.
