Ceramic Coating in Vaughan

A protective layer applied over your paint for added gloss and easier washing — applied at your home in Vaughan, Woodbridge or Kleinburg. Starting at $795.

A ceramic coating is a liquid applied over your vehicle's clear coat that cures into a hard, slick, transparent layer. It does not change the colour of your paint and it is not a wax. What it changes is the surface your paint presents to the world: water beads and runs off it more readily, road film and dust find less to grip, and the panels look deeper and glossier under direct light.

It is the right service if you plan to keep the vehicle a while, you park outside, and you would rather spend less time washing it. It is the wrong service if what you actually want is the swirls taken out of a tired finish — a coating goes over the paint, so it seals in whatever is underneath it. That job is paint correction, and the two are quoted separately.

What a coating actually does

Most of the damage a parked car picks up in the GTA is contamination that has been given time to bond. Road salt and brine sit on the paint through the winter. Tree sap, pollen and bird droppings land on horizontal panels through the summer and bake in the sun. None of it is a problem on the day it lands; it becomes a problem when it stays put long enough to etch.

A coating does not stop any of that from landing. What it does is give it less to grip and buy you more time to get it off. On coated paint a wash lifts contamination that would otherwise have to be worked at, which means fewer passes with a mitt and less chance of putting swirls into the paint while you clean it. That is the practical benefit, and it is worth being clear that it is a maintenance benefit rather than armour.

What it is not

A coating is not scratch-proofing. It will not stop a shopping cart, a stone chip or a key. It will not lift existing swirl marks — those are removed before it goes on, or they stay. And it is not a substitute for washing the car; it makes washing easier and more effective, not optional.

What the work involves

A coating is only ever as good as the surface it goes onto, so most of the time on a coating booking is preparation.

Paint has to be clean, decontaminated and completely dry before a coating can bond to it. Anything left on the surface — road film, embedded fallout, old wax or sealant — sits between the coating and the clear coat and stops it keying properly. This is why a coating is not something that can be added to the end of a wash as an afterthought, and why we assess the finish before quoting rather than pricing it off a vehicle class.

The condition of the paint underneath is the other half of the decision. Because the coating is transparent and stays put, every swirl and every light scratch under it stays visible for as long as the coating does. If the finish has marring you want gone, paint correction comes first, and is priced as its own service starting at $795. If the paint is already in good order — a newer vehicle, or one that has been looked after — correction may not be needed at all. We will tell you which of those you are looking at when we see it.

How long it takes and what it costs

Time on site

Most details we do take between 2-6 hours depending on the vehicle's size and condition, and we give you a more accurate estimate when you book. A coating sits at the longer end of that range because the preparation is the bulk of the work — and longer again if correction is being done first.

Ceramic Coating

Quoted to your vehicle after we assess the finish. Size, the condition of the paint, and whether correction is needed first are what move the number.

Looking after a coated car

Coated paint still needs washing — it just rewards it more. Wash it regularly rather than waiting for it to look dirty, because the point of the coating is that contamination comes off easily while it is fresh. Rinse the salt off through the winter months when you get a mild day for it.

Keep it out of automatic brush washes. Those brushes are the single most reliable way to put swirl marks into any paint, coated or not, and a coating will not save the finish from them. A two-bucket hand wash with a clean mitt, or a touchless wash, is what you want.

If you would rather not think about it, our monthly maintenance plans cover keeping the vehicle up between details, with priority scheduling and a lower per-visit cost.

Why we can do this in your driveway

We are fully equipped with our own water and power supply, so there is nothing you need to set up and nothing you need to lend us. You do not have to drop the vehicle somewhere, arrange a ride home, or lose a day to it. We come to your home, your office, or wherever the vehicle is parked, in Vaughan, Woodbridge, Kleinburg, Maple, Concord, Thornhill, King City, Nobleton and Richmond Hill.

Weather is the one genuine constraint on this service, and we handle it rather than gamble on it: we monitor the forecast and will reach out to reschedule if conditions could affect the quality of your detail — with no charge for rescheduling. Condos and apartments work too, as long as there is reasonable access to the vehicle and a parking spot to work in; tell us the building details when you book and we will confirm.

Ceramic coating questions

Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?

Only if the paint has swirls or scratches you want gone. A coating is transparent and it stays put, so anything under it stays visible for as long as the coating does. If the finish is already in good order, correction may not be needed. We assess the paint before quoting and tell you which of those you are looking at.

Will a ceramic coating stop scratches and stone chips?

No. A coating adds gloss and makes the surface easier to clean — it is not impact protection. It will not prevent stone chips, cart dings or key marks, and it will not remove marks that are already there.

Can you apply a coating outside at my home?

Yes — we bring our own water and power supply, so there is nothing you need to set up. Weather is the one thing that can move a booking: we watch the forecast and will reach out to reschedule if conditions could affect the quality of the work, at no charge.

Can I still take it through a car wash afterwards?

Avoid automatic brush washes. The brushes are the most common cause of swirl marks in paint, and a coating will not protect the finish from them. Hand washing or a touchless wash is what you want.

Does a coating mean I don't have to wash the car?

No — it makes washing easier and more effective, not unnecessary. Contamination still lands on the paint; the coating gives it less to grip so it comes off with less work, provided you do not leave it sitting for months.
